Description
SUMMARY: Teaches skiing to individuals or groups at our resort by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Explains and demonstrates use of equipment and the principles, techniques and methods of regulating movement of the body to gain proficiency.
2. Observe students to detect and correct mistakes.
3. Explains safety rules.
4. Instructs beginner through advanced levels according to the level of proficiency demonstrated to our technical staff, in accordance with PSIA guidelines.
5. Completes required forms and reports in a timely manner, attends required staff meetings.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Due to the many variables that affect winter resort operations, such as weather and number of guests, occasionally employees may be asked to perform other duties outside their primary area of responsibility as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 16 years of age.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: In compliance with California State Law, minor employees (less than 18) that have not completed high school or the equivalent must present a valid Work Permit issued by the school district of their residence, valid through the end of the Winter season.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
TRAINING, CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
China Peak Mountain Resort On-Duty Skier/Snowboarder Certification to Level 1 and/or consistent with teaching assignment
Current PSIA Certification (preferred but not required)

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMAND LEVEL: 2 – MEDIUM
The physical and environmental demand level as described in Level 2 (MEDIUM) are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
